Tortolì is the most densely-populated country town in
the Ogliastra area, it stands near Arbatax, gateway from
the sea throughout the whole territory. The presence of
the port and of the airport, ensures permanent links to
the peninsula. Its territory is predominantly flat,
situated in a wide plain towards the sea. Tortolì
represents one of the most popular village town of the
east-coast, in the area there are plenty citrus trees,
and it is characterized by the beauty of its coasts
reach in details, porphyry red cliffs, and by beautiful
beaches among which stands out for its particular sand
and its cristal water, Lido di Orrì and Portu Frailis
which overlooks the homonym bay. In Tortolì there are
also some archaeological areas of great interest, the
most of them near the rural church of San Salvatore,
where there are “Menhir”, “Domus de Janas”, “Giants’s
Graves” and ” Nuraghi”, and near San Lussorio where
there are the ruins of a village which dates from Roman
Empire Age. |
